01 - FULL 4X4 DRIVETRAIN
P95: the heart of 4WD by Dangel
The brief
For decades, the Dangel 4x4 relied on a mechanical driveline between the front and rear axles. As soon as the front wheels began to slip, a viscous coupling sent part of the torque to the rear. The system was robust and proven.
But vehicles are evolving, powertrains are multiplying, and our customers' needs are growing as well. Our engineers have therefore set a clear goal: to do better, and to do it across all vehicles, regardless of their powertrain.
Code name for this project: P95.
A rear axle that pushes
The result is an independent electric rear axle. It has its own motor, its own 48 V battery and its own electronic control unit. It takes nothing from the original drivetrain: when the front loses traction, the rear takes over and pushes.

What P95 changes out in the field
1600 Nm
Up to 1,600 Nm at the rear.
Two driving modes are available, and the rear axle provides the necessary power to keep moving safely in almost any situation.
4x4 only when you need it.
The control unit continuously monitors traction and only engages all-wheel drive when a front wheel slips. The rest of the time, you drive in two-wheel drive: lower fuel consumption and less tire wear.
Seamless engagement.
4x4 engages quietly and smoothly, with no jolt. The driver stays focused on the road while the system takes care of the rest.
A technology that adapts to a wide range of vehicles.
P95 was designed from the outset to integrate with very different vehicles and powertrains.
Designed and built in Alsace
P95 was developed by our engineering department, and every vehicle is converted in our workshops in Sentheim.

02 • 4X2 DRIVE
Limited-slip differential: more traction, without switching to 4x4
THE DANGEL ANSWER: a front differential that doesn't let go
For these uses, Dangel offers an intermediate and remarkably effective solution. We replace the original front differential with a limited-slip differential.
When one wheel spins, it sends engine torque to the wheel that still has traction, and the vehicle keeps moving forward.
THE PROBLEM: one wheel is spinning, the vehicle stops
This is the limit of any open differential. As soon as one wheel loses traction, it spins and takes the engine torque with it. The other wheel, the one that could still drive the vehicle, gets almost nothing. The vehicle stays put.
It happens on a muddy forest track, a waterlogged field, a sandy trail or a slippery site entrance. Yet these situations do not always justify full four-wheel drive.
Motorsport technology, put to work
We chose our partners among the world's leading limited-slip differential specialists, who supply many racing and production cars. Their track-proven technology now works on your job sites, your delivery rounds and your tracks.
The result: much better traction, while staying 4x2
You move forward where you were stuck, without changing vehicles.
Nothing for the driver to do: the system works automatically whenever traction is lost.
The vehicle stays a 4x2, with all the simplicity that brings.

Lift, protection, diff lock, fit-outs: the equipment that makes the difference
Traction alone is not always enough
Traction is good. But it is no use if a deep rut stops you, a branch punctures your tank or a stump blocks your way.
At Dangel, we think of the vehicle as a whole, not just its drivetrain.
Higher
Our 4WD by Dangel and Trek by Dangel conversions are raised, either as standard or as an option. You gain ground clearance and better approach and departure angles: the vehicle clears obstacles it would otherwise hit.
Better protected
The most exposed components are protected by steel skid plates. Not plastic, steel: it takes the impact of rocks, stumps and ruts so your engine and tank don't have to.
A differential lock: obstacles hold no fear
Some obstacles stop any ordinary vehicle: a cross-axle situation, an embankment, a rut that lifts a wheel. As soon as a rear wheel lifts off or loses traction, it spins freely and the vehicle comes to a stop.
The rear differential lock, available as an option on all 4WD by Dangel conversions, solves this problem: once engaged, it makes both rear wheels turn together at the same speed. Even if only one rear wheel has traction, it keeps driving the vehicle.
One single point of contact, from start to finish
Traction, lift, protection, fit-outs, wheelchair-accessible conversions: we handle the entire conversion from A to Z. You deal with a single supplier and receive your vehicle ready to work.
Equipped for your profession
For a professional, the van is often a mobile workshop. Here too, there is no compromise on durability.
From a simple beacon to a complete fit-out, Dangel offers a range of accessories and interior and exterior fittings built to last.
